Simple Enough

I guess the one, and only, good thing about being home sick with the flu is that it has given me ample time to get caught up on my blog reading and news addiction. I have really been lazy on that road lately and it has actually been informative, and entertaining to get caught up. Tumblr has been a great tool for me to get back on track with. It may actually be the one tool I have looked for to keep me as an active blogger again. Lord knows I have had MANY blogs over the past years that have faded into obscurity. I really believe that blogging has become a very worthy part of communication in our society. Is every blog worthy, maybe not but if you take a few minutes to read a couple of entries I think you can find something of value in most every blog.
Well I don’t live in Arizona but I guess I would have been fired if I went to work with my flu symptoms. I guess It shows how serious this flu is.
PHOENIX (AP) — Employees of an Arizona county with flu symptoms or a temperature of at least 100.4 degrees must stay home from work or risk being fired under a new policy….
This is the video of the “balloon boy” and his family supposedly chasing Hurricane Gustav as posted on CNN’s iReport on September 1, 2008. The more I read about the family the more I think the whole balloon thing was a pre-planned stunt.
Morning after: Balloon boy gets sick twice on TV
Richard Heene and his family made the rounds on all three television networks on Friday, and the boy at the center of the saga got sick twice when he and his father were asked during separate interviews what he meant when he said that “we did this for a show.”
What is going on around here. I was doing my morning ritual of scanning the news on the web and for some reason it slapped me right square in the face. All I could really find to read was about shootings, murders, assaults and such. No, I was not reading about the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, I was reading about the war in our backyard, the local news. It seems some people have no regard for others and just walk in and take anything they want and use force to get it. I know the economy is bad but I truly don’t believe that most of these crimes are being caused by the economy, that would be an easy, and wrong, conclusion. PEOPLE. we need to come together and learn to get along and protect one another. That is my soapbox stance for today.

I was just scanning the news on the web and saw where 4 police officers were shot and killed in a coffeehouse in Washington state. The frightening part of this is that it appears to have been a “targeted ambush” on these officers from the Lakeland Police Department. It is a challenge for those of us that serve and protect to sometime protect ourselves, but in these times we must stay always vigilant. As of this posting the suspect is still on the loose and being hunted.

Powerful Hurricane Irene poised to hit southeast U.S.
A strengthening Hurricane Irene churned on a northwest track toward the Southeast United States on Tuesday, threatening the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas with battering winds and rain and dangerous surf.
While the U.S. National Hurricane Center’s five-day forecast now sees a possible landfall in North Carolina this weekend, forecasters have been cautioning that such projections can have a margin of error of as much as 400 kilometres.
