Simple Enough
I know we still need some rain to get out of the so called drought we are supposed to be in around here but I am over it for now. I had to take my mother shopping and then do my shopping so trudging groceries out to the car and into the house is a wet job. This is the best weather to curl up in bed and watch it rain, not to be in it.Oh well, this to shall pass.
I guess it is never to early, or to late, to get into the holiday spirit. For some odd reason I have gotten into it, early. The tree is up and I am listening to Christmas music on 977music.com, it’s continuous and commercial free. The cats have allowed the tree to stand with only the occasional ornament leaving the tree for a roll across the floor. Funny that the weather this past weekend and today has been sunny and in the 70s and 80s, so not holiday weather, at least not where I grew up, in northern Indiana and Chicago.
I just noticed it has been 5 days since I last posted, which means my tumblarity has tumbld to the gutter. It has been a busy week with work, extra work and family taxi service. The weather is teasing me with the chance of snow. Being from the north I’m not to thrilled for snow down here since no one seems to know how to drive in it. It will most likely miss us anyway and just be rain and maybe some slush.

Could it be true? Could we actually see snow tomorrow here in South Carolina? There seems to be some forecasting for just that. I can take it or leave it at this point. It’s my weekend to work so it would be nice not to have to put up with any potential messy weather. Winter weather is something people do not know how to handle well down here. I guess I will stay tuned to the National Weather Service for the latest updates and dig out my Chicago weather gear.
Well it looks like there will be more snow dropping in on us folks here in the Upstate of South Carolina starting tonight and continuing into Monday. It may look nice but it will be a disaster for the roadways.

Being from the north I have seen a lot of snow in my life but for those living in the south, that includes me now, it can be a big deal. Here in the Upstate of South Carolina we got dumped on with anywhere from 6” - 12” of snow early this morning. Needless to say it has shut the area down almost completely. Atlanta got shut down as well. We usually get a couple snowfalls of an inch or so each year but this is the biggest winter storm in this area since 1988. The National Weather Service was hesitant to compare snow totals with 1988 until it started falling when they upped the possible accumulations from 4” - 8” to 9” 12”.

OK, this is the perfect weather today. It got to 78 officially at GSP, a light breeze and just great. This is the kind of weather I could deal with 365 days a year. I did manage to get out on my bike for a short ride, maybe I will do a longer ride tomorrow and/or Sunday. The kitties really enjoyed the weather from their window shelf as well. Devil Kitty really wanted to go outside but I did not feel like having her up in the tree again. I know this weather will be short lived but it is sure nice even for a weekend.

Powerful Hurricane Irene poised to hit southeast U.S.
A strengthening Hurricane Irene churned on a northwest track toward the Southeast United States on Tuesday, threatening the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas with battering winds and rain and dangerous surf.
While the U.S. National Hurricane Center’s five-day forecast now sees a possible landfall in North Carolina this weekend, forecasters have been cautioning that such projections can have a margin of error of as much as 400 kilometres.
